The versatile enchilada is thought to have evolved from Papadzules (papak-tsuls), a traditional Mayan dish. The Mayan people of Southern Mexico filled corn tortillas with special ingredients and then covered them with tomato sauce. Meaning “food of the nobles” Papadzules were reserved for special occasions and royalty. Likewise, serving enchiladas can transform your family’s evening meal into a celebration

Enchiladas

Step #2:
Fold flap over filling,
bring edges in.

Step #5:
Serve and top with
additional garnishes
if desired.

Step #1:
Prepare filling and tortillas.
Pre-fry corn tortillas and
dip into enchilada sauce to
soften and season.

   

Step #3:
Cover enchiladas with
enchilada sauce. Garnish
with cheese, olives,
and/or green onions.


Step #4:
Bake uncovered for
15-20 minutes at 375 degrees
until hot and bubbly.
